Golf in Japan is hideously expensive. Companies have memberships, multi-millionairs have memberships and the Tanakas and the Inoues and the Yamamotos go elsewhere.
They go to one of those green mesh golf practice places in the city. They are like gigantic green mosquito nets and some machine pops up the ball and still at some considerable cost you can hit dozens of balls. And of course meanwhile you hope Your Favourite Uncle leaves you His Membership in His Will.
