This is going off on a tangent: have a look at the picture below. Can you see the person rolling on the floor with laughter in front of the table while having a fiery conversation’? We are referring to the kanji for ‘joke’.

医者　いしゃ　isha  doctor

 

 Town Doctor Jumbo

The arrow suggests ‘accurately hitting the inside’. 者 しゃ sha means ‘educated person’

お医者　おいしゃ　oisha means doctor

PS: Although most people talk about the doctor as おいしゃさん oishasan, you should not forget that when you visit a doctor you refer to him/her as せんせい sensei.
