Inside the carriage above the doors the display shows the next stations where the train will stop. It will be in Japanese, as well as in English. The display will run in time for passengers to get themselves ready should they need to leave the train. The announcer will also explain the stop in Japanese as well as in English.

If you arrive in Himeji, which is about 15 minutes from Osaka Station on the Shinkansen, you leave the station and walk down the main avenue to reach the castle. It is about 15 minutes walking. Very pleasant. On the way back there are lots of souvenir shops and eating places to call in. One can easily spend a day in Himeji.

Transportation: By shinkansen from Tokyo, it takes about 3 hours and 20
minutes; from Kyoto, it takes 55 minutes. By JR express train (Sanyo
Line) from Osaka, it’s an hour and from Kobe, 40 minutes. Himeji Castle
is a 15 -minute walk from Himeji Station.
Open: Daily year-round, except December 29 through 31.
Tours: A free tour is available for English speaking visitors.

But please note that reservations are not accepted for this service.

Allow about 1 hour and a half for the tour.
