Good Evening こんばんは 2

Good evening, Dad

こんばんは is the correct spelling, but こんばんわ is now seen from time to time. Young people spell it this way as to them it is a complete expression and they don’t think about the history behind the phrase.

Some people even write it in katakana these days コンバンワ. It is written in katakana in the concrete fountain outside the old Urawa City (now Saitama City) railway station.
